J & K Ranch Kennels - Horseback Riding Lessons

Welcome to the Barn!

We offer a family friendly facility that can tailor instruction to the individual's goals as a rider. Whether you are a beginner and looking for basic skills and some practical knowledge of "horsekeeping". Or maybe you are looking for some polish on your Western Riding or Saddleseat Equitation, we will try our best to accommodate your quest for riding skills.

The basic outline of our program is as follows:

Level One - BeginningLevel One - Beginning:
The goals for Level One consist of developing basic horsemanship skills, establishing control, safety, an awareness of basic horse psychology, and providing a positive experience.

Concepts and skills taught include leading, grooming, saddling, mounting, position in the saddle, how we communicate with the horse, and introduction to gaits and some discussion of the mental aspect of riding. All Beginners are started individually. Private Lessons & Group Lessons are priced the same.

Level II - Intermediate

Level II - Intermediate:
The goals for Level II consist of furthering Level I skills.

Concepts and skills introduced include Collection, Balance, Seat and the basic mechanics or riding and gait.

Level III - AdvancedLevel III - Advanced:
At this level, instruction is geared toward successful Showring performance.

Concepts and skills discussed include "Showring Procedure", Riding Aggressively, Focus, and Basic Sports Psychology.


                                                   - Special Needs Riders Welcome -

Schedule of Fees:

  • Lessons are offered on a once per week basis or if you would like to progress faster, Lessons are offered twice weekly.
     
  • All Beginners are started individually.
     
  • Lessons consist of Instruction Time, Practice Time and Relaxation Time with your horse.
     
  • Please talk with me about what your riding goals and interests are so that I can gear my instruction to help you achieve your goals!
